Research

Activities and so on that involves balance: generic circus related shows for example; High wire- Walking from one end of the zip wire to the other; or Balancing on a ball; I need to work out how the mechanics would work for these ideas; what would work best on said format and what would be most appealing to the audience.
Not an apple game but the game ‘Super Rub a Dub’ for the ps3 uses a similar function for the game, the six axis. The concept is a really interesting idea; you’re a rubber duck in a sink and you have to pick up the rubber ducklings and lead them to safety via the plug hole. Then there’s also the conflicting factors like wind-up toy sharks which amused me to no end and rushing water in the sink or no rim to the sink in areas. I have to say what I liked most about this game was that you actually controlled the sink, not the duck making it seem more real for the player, it is a perfectly do-able game in real life; I only noticed that you control the sink while playing when you jolt the controls, flinging the duck in the air. Even the menu uses the six axis to its fullest, tilting left and right on the menu lets you slide though the options available; if you look closely at the background of the menu (which is just a full sink) when you shake the controller it makes the water ripple, or tilting the controller makes the menu and the water slide to that side. A perfect example of what a game that uses motion should be like; nothing over complicated with story or concept, basically simple controls, simple objective.

I’ll have to consider water based ideas for my game concept, it has a challenging and unpredictable style to it. I think I’ll be going through animal based character ideas.
